another clutch thing about this is that it has 8 tape outs so you can dump all 8 tracks to a DAW for mix/effects if you want- the tascam 488 doesn't. the sound is pretty tight- it's not a 2" 16 track, but it's not too shabby for something with this many features. with my old band, we had a couple of mics set up over the drums, a line in each for bass and guitars, and a line out of the PA(vox) you can record everything, and mix down the stuff you want to keep to work on. Very clean otherwise! Aside from being able to fully track out a band in one shot for"real" recording, it's amazing to use for practices. There is one gnarly spot near the top on the right-please see the second-to-last picture for a closeup. Which work properly, including recording and playback, LED indicators.
